trip to el aaiun

We were picked upfrom our apartment,in cala blanca, puerto mogan, grancanaria,at 9.15am.Weflew fom las palmas at 11.45am.

We were taken everywhere by jeep, being given a tour of the town, a wander through the local marketand a trip into the desert.

Lunch we had with a local bedouin family(kebabs of came). Later we visited a fish quay,a well appointed hotel(almost deserted),saw the sunset over the dunes, and returned to the airport for dinner(this was delicious, but some of the party looked abit pale when told that the meat was camel).

Our party were all strangers to each other, presumably learning about the trip from a leaflet at their resort (as we had).

The cost was £108 each,in 2006,and only goes if there is a planeful(16 in our case).

El Aaiun is not geared for tourists, which helped to make afascinating day
